Back in January at the Detroit 2019 North American International Auto Show, Ford dropped a bomb on the auto industry. It was coming out with a brand new Mustang GT: the 2020 Mustang Shelby GT500. There have been more questions than answers about this new beast, but one thing is for sure: people are beyond excited.
The hype behind the 2020 Shelby is justified if Ford has anything to say about it. It’s expected to be the most powerful, meanest Mustang ever released. But Ford isn’t saying much about it at all. They’re keeping their secrets and the anticipation is killing us all.
What little is known is big. We know that this car is built for the strip, the track, and your drive to work. It’s apparently going to have over 700 (as in 700 being the bare minimum) horsepower generated from its supercharged 5.2L V8 engine.
One could say that the 2020 Shelby is pure power, American muscle personified. But to say so would be to not have even seen it yet, because all that power comes packaged in one unbelievable, mean-looking package.
We’ll all just have to cross our fingers that Ford delivers on the hype come the release of the 2020 Mustang Shelby GT500. Until then, get excited.
